Our Story
Diamond Clutch was started in 2006 in a small building in Fort Worth, Texas. I had only been in business for two years in my one-man shop, doing drivetrain work. At that time, there were only a handful of companies offering clutches for the LS-powered vehicles. In fact, the majority of single-disc aftermarket clutches couldn’t outlast a stock clutch.
I had piles of clutches that were removed from customers’ cars, which all had early deaths. My customers would always ask which clutch I recommended, and I didn’t have a good answer. There were some nice twin-disc options, but the cost was three to four times more than the single-disc clutches. So, those were out of the budget for most people. My goal became to make an affordable single-disc clutch that would hold up to the high-powered LS-equipped vehicles.
Finally, after researching the subject, I figured out that a heavy duty 12” disc and pressure plate, along with a high quality billet steel flywheel was the ticket. Before this year, almost all aftermarket clutches were only 11” which would result in a lot of chatter, making it difficult to drive the car. I figured there shouldn’t be any reason that a 12” setup can’t be used. So, I gave it a try, and began to assemble and sell these kits to my customers.
Many customers reported back afterwards with glowing reviews, so I knew I was on the right track. Shortly thereafter, the clutch was named Diamond Clutch. These kits were holding up better than any other clutch on the market without breaking the bank.
